As I passed Ateneo De Zamboanga University at La Purisima St. tonight, I was attracted to their bright and colorful arch!
They usually prepare this arch in preparation for the Ateneo Fiesta by the end of November to early December! And of course, the Blue Eagle icon is never forgotten!
This is what ADZU stands for:
EXCELLENCE*SPIRITUALITY*CITIZENSHIP !
I got this from Wikipedia just to introduce you to Ateneo De Zamboanga:
The Ateneo de Zamboanga University is a Catholic and Jesuit university in Western Mindanao. It is also known by the acronym AdZU. Founded by the Society of Jesus in 1912, it is the second oldest Jesuit school in the Philippines. It initially catered to primary and secondary education for boys. It became a college in 1952, and a university in August 2001. The Ateneo de Zamboanga began in 1912 as Escuela Catolica, a parochial school run by Spanish Jesuits at the old site of the Immaculate Conception Church, right across the Sunken Garden. Fr. Manuel Sauras, S.J. was the first director.
It operates two campuses. The main campus in La Purisima Street houses the Colleges and the Grade School, while the new campus outside Zamboanga City proper is home to the High School unit. Future plans include the construction of several facilities in the new campus such as the Grade School classrooms, an auditorium, an amphitheater, a chapel (the current chapel is housed inside the High Building) and sports facilities.
I am sure the whole University is excited for their Ateneo Fiesta at their Centennial Year!!!
Ooooohhhh, I look forward to this year's Fiesta. I just hope more of my classmates/batchmates/friends are attending so we could reconnect.

ReplyDeleteI attended the Centennial celebrations of Ateneo de Zamboanga as I am an alumna of the school. Graduated Grade School Batch 1999 when it was just Ateneo de Zamboanga or AdeZ and to inform everyone that back then the MPCC was still not there yet so we had our graduation ceremonies at the Brebeuf Gym. Graduated in High School Batch 2003 when it was just granted university status in 2002 so it was now Ateneo de Zamboanga University. How time flies indeed! I miss my dear Alma Mater, Ateneo..
