CIUDAD MEDICAL ZAMBOANGA WINS GOLD ANVIL @ THE 51ST ANVIL AWARDS

Reblog from In Pinay's Ciudad...

The ANVIL AWARD is the most prestigious award in Public Relations, thus, dubbed the Oscar Awards for Public Relations and given only if and when the high standards set by the jury are met. These winning programs demonstrate and live the principle of public relations that is all about great performance with great results.

We were told
Ciudad Medical Zamboanga may be the only winner from MINDANAO and a GOLD ANVIL awardee at that!

ZAMBOANGA CITY, THIS IS FOR YOU! ...The GOLD ANVIL AWARD (Public Relations Program Specialized Advocacy Campaign) for the CMZ BRA (Bra to Raise Awareness) Campaign Project of CIUDAD MEDICAL ZAMBOANGA for
innovative breast cancer advocacy program in Zamboanga City.

CIUDAD MEDICAL ZAMBOANGA and the CMZ BRAngay Team, this is OUR GOLD!

The larger trophy is the GOLD AWARD and the smaller trophy is the SILVER AWARD.

THE GOLD ANVIL AWARD TROPHY

This is the Congratulatory letter, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga received from the PRSP!

This is the message of the Chairman of the 51st Anvil Awards, Mr. Ron Jabal during the ANVIL Gabi Ng Parangal 2016!.
Magandang magandang gabi po sa inyo lahat.
To say I am humbled by your presence is an understatement. Speaking before more than 800 experts in Public Relations is quite a daunting task. I wish President Bong Osorio is here to share with me the stage where more than 60 companies will be honoured by the greatest recognition in PR profession. For those who do not know, President Bong Osorio is in Dubai speaking before a global conference - ably representing the brilliance in all of us - of PRSP. Thank you Bong.
And so today I, along with the outgoing and incoming Board of Directors of PRSP, welcome all of you to the 51st Anvil Awards. We have received close to 400 entries this year and more than 100 will be recognised with silvers and golds. The creme dela creme will get a Special Award while the best of the best will get Platinum trophies and the much-coveted Grand Anvil Award.
_____
In the era of instant gratification amidst a cacophony of applause from award-giving bodies that seemed to have sprouted all over in recent years, one is compelled to ask if getting an Anvil trophy - Silver and/or Gold - remains important and relevant.
Now that the Anvil Awards is on its 51st year of recognizing outstanding PR programs and tools, we dared ask if this type of accolade has already been reduced to a perfunctory or a chore.
If one views Anvil Awards as just an award for the office display cabinet which will later be a subject of a press release that hopefully will be read by the company’s target markets, then maybe an Anvil award is nothing more than a trophy - a good to have so people can see.
If one views Anvil Awards as only a recognition of our own expertise which can be a ticket for one’s ascent to the corporate ladder or a brag tool in an industry gathering which will later be a subject of a Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts, then maybe an Anvil award is nothing more than an emblem and badge of bravado - a scarlet letter for everyone to ogle about.
There is nothing wrong with all of these. At one point in our lives we have done and continues to do these actuations.
I am sure, though, that there is more to an Anvil award than all these.
More than anything else, we need to see the Anvil Awards as a recognition and a celebration of good - that getting an Anvil award remains important and relevant in the minutiae of everyday life where time is no longer measured in hours but moments.
Getting an Anvil trophy is a recognition of excellence in creativity; of the beauty of messages; of intelligent choices in choosing what channels to deliver our messages to our stakeholders and consumers; and of the logic of measurement and evaluation.
Getting a Silver or a Gold is the triumph over lethargy; the triumph over just getting by and doing the same thing all over again; and a victory against “okay-na-yan”.
Getting an Anvil is a victory of the goodness of shared values between us and the stakeholders we engage and serve.
An Anvil Award stands for the celebration of common good.
So for those who will receive Anvil Awards, stand proud. You just do not carry a piece of wood and metal but a responsibility to always do good - the good of not just small and specialised interests but for the good of all.

Again congratulations and Mabuhay tayong lahat!

We were happy to meet new friends from the Diocese of Alaminos and their iPlant Movement Grand Launch Magazine with the Silver ANVIL Award especially Msgr. Rey and Simon and Imelda Czendlik-Bischof. We shared Table No. 19.

Mr. Jones T. Campos  (far right) with CMZ BRA Campaign  Project of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga with iPlant Movement of the Diocese of Alaminos represented by Ding Mammuad, Simon and Imelda Czendlik-Bischof , Msgr. Rey, Fr. Windell and Fr. Uly.

Congratulations to all the awardees and we hope to inspire other corporations and organizations to join in the bandwagon in the celebration of the common good!

P.S.

Thank you so much, Rameer Tawasil for sharing the BRA idea with CMZ and worked with us for our giant Installation Art, the CMZ BREAST (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for screening and Treatment)!

LIVE! THE CMZ B.R.A. FLASH MOB 2014

Today, March 21, 2014 marks the UNVEILING CEREMONY of the CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment) INSTALLATION ART!

The CMZ B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) Flash Mob created the fun atmosphere to announce the highlight activities and indeed, surprised everyone in the hospital with a very earth-shaking dance!

The CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mob danced twice:

*   At 10 a.m.: They opened the day with a happy dance to inform everyone in the hospital that we had two special activities lined up! ... and to announce the presence of the food stalls at the inner parking lot, one of which is manned by the Mindanao Breast Cancer Support and Empowerment Association

** At 5 p.m.: The CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mob opened the highlight of the CMZ B.R.A. Campaign Project:
the UNVEILING CEREMONY of the CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment) INSTALLATION ART!

We would like to share amateur video clips (taken from an iPad Air!) for you to feel the superb energy of the CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mob!

The Ciudad Medical Zamboanga staff danced their way to announce to the folks on the CMZ Bra to Raise Awareness Campaign highlight this March 21,2014.

There were dancers in all four floors of CMZ and they danced their way to the first floor center aisle for the finale.

The second run of the CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mob was at 5 p.m. and the dancers were still seen at all four levels. CMZ staff, patients and relatives and friends such as from JSOTF-P (Balikatan to many of us) friends, witnessed their dynamism once more!

The Flash Mob all danced down to the first floor center aisle then, run  to the front parking lot to open the UNVEILING CEREMONY of the CIUDAD de ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness) INSTALLATION ART! You can imagine the blur of activities as they moved from one part of the hospital to the outside!

Here the Flash Mob is already by the roadside!

You could immediately guess that they did get everyone's attention and all eyes were focused on CMZ!

AND, we also have another reason to celebrate because of  the Conferment of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga (Zamboanga Polymedic Hospital Inc.) for the 16th cycle Philippine Quality Award (PQA) for Recognition to Commitment to Quality Management by no less than Pres. Benigno Aquino III at the Rizal Hall, Malacañan Palace, just a day before!!! (PQA is a presidential and national award!)

We thank all the CMZ staff and especially, the nurse trainees who shared their time, talent and energy to liven up this milestone in CMZ history - be it as the dancers, choreographers and support staff! You are indeed part of CMZ history!

We are now showcasing another aspect of their creative "juices" from still art to beauty in motion!

What a way to open the Unveiling Ceremony!

CMZ proudly presents the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art, which we believe is the largest bra art made of individual bras to be displayed whether here in the Philippines or abroad.

Everyone who witnessed them definitely were infected by the high spirits and we hope that somehow we were able to share the energy of the affair with you through these videoclips!!!

CMZ B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) Campaign 2014

February 17, 2014 Updates:

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the Philippines with reports showing that  the country has the highest incidence rate in Asia. Unfortunately, survival rate in the Philippines is below 40% compared to the high survival rates of 80 to 98% in developed countries. This is attributed to better disease awareness in developed countries and the practice of regular screening that helps detect the disease at an earlier, thereby, more curable stage.

Thus, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga created the CMZ Breast Wellness Center (CMZ BWC) in 2012 as its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program under the helm of Breast Advocate, Dr. Marissa Lim.
The CMZ Breast Wellness Center is now launching the B.R.A. Campaign Project which stands for Bra to Raise Awareness in time for the World Cancer Day this February 4, 2014 and its culmination will be on March 20, 2014, which is the second anniversary of CMZ BWC as well as within the International Women’s Month (March).

Phase 1 of the B.R.A. Campaign Project is the B.R.A. Drop Box Decorating Contest participated in by  the CMZ employees and was started last January 17, which is within the National Cancer Consciousness Week. The decorated B.R.A. drop boxes will be placed in strategic places within CMZ and with partner institutions and prepared for Phase 2.
Placing of the B.R.A. Collection boxes within Ciudad Medical Zamboanga and in designated areas within Zamboanga City is intended to increase Breast Cancer Awareness in the following ways:

1) Looking at the pink-colored B.R.A. boxes will attract the observers to awareness.
2) Reading the messages of the B.R.A. Boxes will create awareness.
3) Picking flyers/leaflets from the box will add to their knowledge and awareness.
4) Contributing brassieres into the box will further increase involvement.
5) More women submitting for screening.
6) More organizations requesting for lectures on Breast Cancer Awareness. Call Zeny/Beth at 992-7330 loc 1278 for scheduling.
7)   Final phase of Installation Art will increase Breast Cancer Awareness for the community

Phase 2 is the launching of the B.R.A. Collection Contest where CMZ is collecting old and used bras, within the institution and in partnership with the Zamboanga community from February 4 to March 8, 2014.

As of this day, our partner institutions who will help us in the B.R.A. Collection Phase include:

** the City Government through the Sangguniang Panglungsod ng Zamboanga (through City Councilor Myra Paz Abubakar, head of ZC Gender and Development Committee)the City Health Office;

** government offices such as DOH RIX, PhilHealth, SSS, Office of the Civil Registrar, CHED, Zamcelco, ZC Water District, Western Mindanao Command;

** Malls such as Mindpro Citimall, Budgetwise, Shopper’s Group, Yubengco Star Mall;

** Schools such as Western Mindanao State University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Universidad de Zamboanga, Pilar College, Brent Hospital and Colleges, Claret School, Nuevo Zamboanga Colleges and Immaculate Conception Elementary School;

** Banks such as PNB and Metrobank;

** private groups such as KCCDFI, Lantaka Hotel and Bygems Baloons.

** Zamboanga City Medical Society is our partner in the medical field.

** The Mindanao Breast Cancer Support and Empowerment Association (MBCSEA) with Pres. Florence Alcazar is our partner for this campaign.

** The Camera Club of Zamboanga and the Zamboanga Bloggers are media partners for this Advocacy project.

** Dante Corteza, Mila Arieta and RG Antonet Go are the consistent friends in media from the beginning of this endeavor.

The collected used bras will be prepared for Phase 3 of the  B.R.A. Campaign  Project which will be the Ciudad de Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art for Breast Cancer Awareness to be unveiled on March 20, 2014. Lead artist for this innovative artwork is international artist, Rameer Tawasil who hails from Sulu, and also considers this as his Personal Social Responsibility!

Instead of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, the Installation Art will be known as the Ciudad de Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art.

This is so because, this campaign has now expanded as the Zamboanga City community art and advocacy project... where the private and public sectors, schools and offices, institutions and individuals join hands to raise Breast Awareness!

What does B.R.E.A.S.T. mean?

It means Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment.

We hope that it might be the first of its kind here in the Philippines and maybe, the world... (anybody, who thinks otherwise, please do inform us and enlighten us!)

Here is the concept as drawn by our artist, Rameer Tawasil:
This is the intended concept of the

Ciudad de Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art

to be created by R. Tawasil and company,

and which will be made up of the individual old and used brassieres !
An offshoot of the B.R.A. Campaign Project is the CMZ B.R.A. A.R.T. Workshop with the Borloloy Buffet, wherein interested participants from CMZ and also from the Zamboanga City community will decorate the brassieres for another concept, also of artist Rameer Tawasil.

Concept B: where bras will be decorated and embellished to create B.R.A. artworks!...

First set of the bra art was made during the CMZ B.R.A. A.R.T. Workshop.

CMZ staff are encouraged to continue making beautiful bras.

However, we still have to find a place to display these

B.R.A. artworks with due consideration to cultural sensitivity.
So here is the activity last February 7, 2014 for the CMZ workforce, and CMZ's way of contributing to the National Arts Month (February)!

CMZ B.R.A. A.R.T. Workshop with the Borloloy Buffet
The same activity will be offered to the partners on March 12, 2014 for day of B.R.A. Art with the Community where indeed, let us Act Right Together!

Phase 4 of the B.R.A. Campaign Project is the Breast Awareness Phase through Education. This phase is already and ongoing activity of the CMZ Breast Wellness Center spearheaded by Dr. Marissa Lim as main lecturer and also with Dr. Filipinas Rojo as part of the pool of lecturers.

In fact, the objective of this Bra to Raise Awareness Campaign Project is in support  of this endeavor. Phase 4 encourages our partners to schedule their Breast Awareness lectures with the CMZ Breast Wellness Center through Zeny/Beth at 992-7330 loc 1278 for scheduling and inquiry.

The Breast Awareness lectures will allow greater understanding on Breast Wellness and enlightenment on what this B.R.A. Campaign is all about!

CMZ hopes to have the whole Zamboanga City community as a partner in
saving lives as we embark on this
BRA to RAISE AWARENESS Project of the CMZ Breast Wellness Center.

Again, the intended Ciudad de Zamboanga B.R.A. Installation Art to be made by R. Tawasil and company will be made up of the individual old and used brassieres, so don't be shy to give away the used, abused and unusable bras for this cause!

Also, everybody is enjoined to be part of the B.R.A. Campaign... as bra contributor, as active partner institution, as lecturer, as inspirational speaker, as part of the support team, as liaison for units and partners, as media partner and friend, as online sharer and blogger, as artist and of course, as sponsor and benefactor! Please come and join us!!!

Our reminder to everyone is :

LOVE YOUR BREASTS…HAVE THEM CHECKED!

The Awareness starts with us!

CHRISTMAS TREES IN CMZ 2012

Christmas is really in the air!

For this Christmas, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga proposed the Christmas Tree contest to all the departments in the hospital.

Suprisingly (or maybe not really since everyone is really dynamic!...), there were 22 groups around the hospital who made Christmas trees of varying materials and with varying concepts! Most of the meanings still boiled down to Love during Christmas as depicted by the Nativity... especially, love for family ... friends ... and community... and the Love of Christ!

Since pictures speak louder than words, here are collages of the Christmas Trees within CMZ for you to appreciate!

Ancillary Departments.
Cardio-Pulmo Section made of hose and tubings from their materials and decorated with big butterflies.
Radiology Department using natural materials of bamboo, palm and coconut materials to depict things truly Filipino but also embellished with mixed palm fruits and modern decor to liven up the tree.
Laboratory using red top tubes to complete a whole pine tree effect

Administrative and Finance Departments.
Pharmacy calls this the Wealth Tree
Maintenance using cogon grass but with reindeers!

Linen uses the cloth tree
EDP using some keyboards, CDs and other computer related material
Laundry also using cloth to make a table top tree

Medical Records using the Excellence at 9 theme with our pictures including the Execom and Medical records staff pictures.

Billing/PhilHealth using paper (lots of paper in this place) and parasol-like in form
Accounting using paper (also lots of paper in their Department) through the art of origami

Some Close-ups: Medical Records, Accounting and Billing/PhilHealth

Nursing Areas.
ICU using cloth individually tied to fully cover the Christmas tree made of wires and hanged with Christmas messages and wishes from the staff.
Ward A:Surgical Ward using bottles wrapped with shiny green paper == the bottles are placed on top of each other with round glass for the base of each tire.
OR-DR-NICU Complex: used plenty of readily available material plus using Coca-Cola Christmas Nativity plates, which is a collection of one of the nurses.

And OR also used black light and separated an area during judgment time for their tableau with angels and a reindeer.
A touching message during the presentation was that the "nurses and the staff are ANGELS IN DISGUISE!"

Ward A: Surgical Ward using bottles wrapped with shiny green paper
Nursing Service Office with three trees depicting the three main areas of Nursing, Ancilliary and Admin/Finance... and they had a Belen beside the Tree to remind the reason for the season. They used materials for packaging to wrap around the Christmas tree skeleton.
Ward E: Medical Ward amazingly uses so many books (so many!) well piled on each other, which was the art in itself!

Ward F: Pedia Ward, with threads and wires intricately woven with classical loops and crystals looking very Parisian
Ward G: General Ward  with Venetian masks very much related to their Masquerade ball... so exotic
ER with a four-cornered tree made of carton embedded with Talisay leaves sprayed with green pain. Hanging are pictures of the ER staff and complete with gifts at the base.

Some Close-ups on Ward A, Ward G, Ward F
The Winners.
Third Place: Central Supply Room
The Frosty Christmas Tree: every material in their tree has significance and meaning just like every material in the Central Supply.

Second Place: Ward C: OB/Gyn Ward
Christmas in Penumbra: notice the newspaper painted with silver without light and the colorful penumbra with the lights on!

The details showed by cuttings show the Nativity in yellow light,  Three Kings in fuschia light, Simbang Gabi in green light and at the base, a black-and-white collage of Ciudad Medical activities in pictures.

First Place: Ward H: Medical Ward

Rainbow Christmas Tree
Made up of individual medicine vials individually wrapped with cellophane and inserted to a wire mesh formed to a tree. I heard the judges mention the craftsmanship and the workmanship and the effort exuded just by looking at the tree. The color combination of the spectrum is very attractive and happy!

So aren't you amazed?

We are definitely amazed with the transformation of the trees to Works of Art!
A simple Christmas tree can trigger brilliant and creative minds and in the hands of the talented CMZ staff turned to very beautiful objects of art and most of all,  creative symbols of Christmas.

What we weren't able to see was the cooperation among those who made the Christmas Trees ... all the collaboration... their extra efforts ... some physical "pains" ...  putting out of treasures ... checking out how the others were doing!

However, I am sure this strengthened the bond among the unit members and showed us the inner dynamic spirit of the teams!!!

Thank you to our Judges: No other than social columnist Mila Arrieta, international artist Rameer Tawasil, winning designer Erich Miñoza and Presty Fabian, the artistic friend from Zuellig.

Again, thanks to all who participated one way or the other!

Go, CMZ! Excellence at 9!!!
