FIESTA PILAR 2012: FLOAT PARADE

Here are some of the Floral Floats which I saw during the Float Parade and Street Dance Competition of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2012!

There were guidelines set for the Fiesta Hermosa Floral Float Parade Competition.
THE Zamboanga City tourism office has finalized the guidelines for the floral float parade and competition, which is one of the culminating activities of Fiesta Hermosa 2012.
The floral float parade is set to be held at 1 p.m. of October 11, the eve of the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar.
To add more fun and entertainment, the floral float parade and competition will have bigger prizes this year.
The prizes are P75,000, first prize; P50,000, second prize; P30,000, third prize; P20,000, fourth prize; and P10,000, fifth prize.
Mayor Celso Lobregat has emphasized that participation in the different fiesta events should be done in the spirit of being a Zamboangueño and not on the basis of pesos and centavos.
The City Government is pouring in a huge amount for prizes in the different competitions that will be held in connection with the Fiesta Hermosa celebration.
The floral float parade and competition is open to individuals, business establishments, government/non-government agencies, military/police organizations, schools and other entities in Zamboanga City.
Competing floats should depict any of the city’s scenic spots or tourist attractions and that it must be mounted on a road worthy vehicle.
The float dimension must not be less than eight feet in width by 16 feet in length to include the entire width and length of the vehicle.
The decorated float must not exceed 12 feet in height from the ground.
The guidelines also emphasize that any material can be used to accentuate the float concept and overall effect.
A maximum of five persons shall be allowed on board the float, no other persons will be allowed to follow the float entry.
The float will be judge along the parade route based on originality (40 percent), creativity (30 percent), craftsmanship (20 percent) and symbolism (10 percent).
Failure to meet the specifications stated on guidelines two will mean a five-point deduction from the total computed score and the decision of the board of judges is final and non-appealable.
Interested individual or group may register at the City Tourism Office, located at Paseo del Mar during office hours and the deadline of submission of entry is on Monday, October 1. (Bong Garcia)

P.S. * I have to emphasize some since I know I didn't see all the floats!
ALSO, it would be nice to know who won the Grand Prize for the FLORAL FLOAT PARADE Competition... I hope it is one of these!!!

  1. The floats all look wonderful save for the glaring signs of advertisers. :( They, especially the Mega sardines signages, kinda ruined the floats and made the parade look so commercialized.
