SHRINE OF THE NUESTRA SEÑORA VIRGEN DEL PILAR 2012

I have blogged about this last year on Fort Pilar through the years.
http://inpinaysfootsteps.blogspot.com/2011/09/fort-pilar-through-years.html
And also on Fort Pilar, the day after the Feast.

This is Fort Pilar in the morning.
Just outside is the Plaza Del Pilar where folks buy the candles, religious items and prayer books among others.

During usual days, we light the usual kind of candles (and not the Chinese style candles!) and just like other shrines, they have this belief of lighting candles with color coding.

Before entering the Fort Pilar.
We are usually greeted by this bird house.

This arch welcomes devotees during the fiesta season.

We usually go to the candle lighting area.

And these are the lighted candles.

Before the mass, we passed by the Fountain area.

Mass has started.

 At Dusk.

After mass.

The Nuestra Señora Virgen Del Pilar De Zaragosa will always be Zamboanga's patroness and it is amazing that people of all walks of life, including some of the Samals (non-Catholics) believe in her as protector of Zamboanga City.

  5. It is a Shrine just outside the walls of the FORT PILAR dedicated to the Lady of the Pillar. On one side there is a large cross and in this area, this is where they light the candles.
