Here are photos of Paseo Del Mar in Zamboanga City on October 2010 from the bar of Lantaka Hotel by the Sea adjacent to the roofdeck.
I just happened to be in Lantaka Hotel then, and these images caught my attention.
However, these pictures were not taken during the height of the Fiesta Pilar activities.... I think it was already after the frenzy of the regatta.

since October is Zamboanga City's Fiesta Pilar, there are real vintas plying the sea front... |
Vintas are seen in Zamboanga City during the Fiesta Pilar especially during the Regatta.
From Wikipedia: The vinta ( locally known as lepa-lepa or sakayan) is a traditional boat found in the Philippine island of Mindanao. These boats are made by Bajau and Moros lining in theSulu Archipelago. It has a sail with assorted vertical colors that represents the colorful culture and history of the Muslim community. These boats are used for inter-island transport of people and goods. Zamboanga City is known for these vessels.

But, VINTAS are not seen in ordinary days... |
|
the little boats are a more common sight everyday... |
There are little bancas (boats) along the seafront, and the kids... or adults (usually Badjaos) dive in for the coins you throw...
I got mixed feelings on this!

at this time, ongoing developments in Paseo Del Mar |
Paseo Del Mar already serves as a gathering place in Zamboanga City... and the place still has lots of potential... and I am sure the Zamboangueños are looking forward to this!
